2024 Bunnings NPC draw confirmed for Sky Stadium

A rugby team runs out of a tunnel onto a sports field.

Home fixtures at Sky Stadium remain a feature for the Wellington Lions during the 2024 Bunnings National Provincial Championship (NPC).

Wellington Rugby has worked with Sky Stadium to foster the delivery of provincial rugby at a community level.

New Zealand Rugby has announced the 2024 Bunnings NPC schedule, which will commence on 9 August.

The first three home fixtures for the Wellington Lions will be held at Porirua Park before returning to Sky Stadium on Saturday 21 September to host Bay of Plenty, and again on Saturday 5 October to host Hawke’s Bay in a replay of the 2023 Bunnings NPC semi-final, before embarking on the playoff rounds.

“This is an exciting opportunity for rugby in the Wellington region” says Wellington Rugby CEO Tony Giles.

“To be in a position to play five consecutive games at Sky Stadium in the run up to NPC glory, as well as community delivery with round-robin fixtures, is a very unique opportunity and one we thank Sky Stadium for supporting”, says Giles.

Sky Stadium CEO, Warrick Dent said “we are pleased to be able to work with Wellington Rugby in their efforts to take matches to the community, and we are looking forward to hosting the Lions’ final two round robin-matches and hopefully a run at the finals series here at Sky Stadium.”

Tickets for all matches at Sky Stadium will be on sale through Flicket later this year.
