Phoenix to host Brisbane on Easter Sunday

A large crowd, bathed in sunshine, sits in a stadium, watching a football match.

The Wellington Phoenix’s round 22 Isuzu UTE A-League match against Brisbane Roar has been moved to Easter Sunday (31 March).

The home fixture was originally scheduled for Good Friday, but the club asked for it to be pushed back a couple of days to allow the Phoenix’s All Whites more time to recover from playing in the W Cup in the UAE during the international window in March.

The Nix are expecting around half a dozen frontline players will be called up to the national squad for the four-nation tournament, which will take place from March 22-26.

Wellington’s match against the Roar will now kick-off at Sky Stadium at 1.00pm on Sunday 31 March and will take place less than 24 hours after the Phoenix women play host to Western Sydney Wanderers at Porirua Park in the final round of Liberty A-League.

The Phoenix would like to thank Australian Professional Leagues (APL) and the Brisbane Roar for accommodating their request, and apologises to fans for any inconvenience caused by this fixture change.

Tickets already purchased for the original date of Friday 29 March remain valid.
