‘Norm Burger’ to hit Westpac Stadium

All Black legend Norm Hewitt has become the latest celebrity chef to take over the Westpac Stadium kitchen. Working alongside Delaware North’s Executive Chef Kupsami Gounder, Hewitt has designed a limited edition burger which fans can taste at the All Blacks v South Africa Test match on 27 July.

‘The Norm Burger’ features two angus beef patties with a combination of melted cheddar and jalapeno cheese, topped with bacon, lettuce, tomato. To boost the flavour, Hewitt has added a spicy siriracha mayonnaise and Westpac Stadium’s own tomato kasundi (a sweet, Indian-style tomato chutney), all brought together in a classic sesame seed bun. Gluten free buns are also available on request.

Said Hewitt “I love my food, and I love being in the kitchen and creating. People may say it’s just a burger, but this is more than just a burger. When you put various points of taste and condiments and the right mixtures, this is something you will remember”.

When asked if there was any competition with last year’s celebrity burger created by fellow Wellingtonian Piri Weepu, Hewitt joked “Between a halfback and a hooker, there’s no comparison”. So the challenge has been set.

Fans will have a chance to taste The Norm Burger for themselves at the All Blacks v South Africa Test match at Westpac Stadium on 27 July. The burger will be available to purchase from the burger cart (opposite Aisle 15) or as a meal option with chips in the Mezzanine Bar (opposite Aisle 25) and the Stadium Members Club.
